Who are we?

Universal Learning Institute (ULI) is a private post-secondary institution which has serviced the Province of British Columbia since 1996, offering diploma programs and certificates with a focus on employability skills and the labour shortage market.  ULI is certified with the Ministry of Advanced Education in BC and is recognized as a Designated Learning Institution with the federal government under the IRCC international student program.

Partnership Benefits:

  • Recognition of EAP 301 at ULI to meet English entrance requirements at Coast Mountain College (face-to-face or pilot online). Your clients can begin the ESL training online to meet entrance requirements of a Canadian Public College while waiting for their study permit.
  • Option of dual letter of acceptance to encourage positive results when applying for the Study Permit.
  • Earn the right to a Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) from Coast Mountain College.

Start your clients’ studies at Universal Learning Institute with English, HCA (Health Care Assistant), Business, or Hospitality. Then, transfer to Coast Mountain College to earn the right for a PGWP or continue to degree level.

Pathway to CMTN’s Specific Program Strengths:

Health Care:

Obtain your HCA license at ULI, work 8 months, and then transfer to a quick 13-month LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) program or 2-year Social Work Diploma at Coast Mountain College. Canadian labour shortages in the healthcare field means full employment quickly in both these fields and potential to stay in Canada or return home experienced.

Hospitality:

With the new pipeline in Northern British Columbia, many hospitality and support services are desperately searching for workers. Study for one year at ULI and earn a ULI diploma and AHLEI (American Hotel and Lodging Education Institute) specialization.  Add a 900-hour work component at ULI in Vancouver to gain valued hands-on experience before you transfer to Coast Mountain for additional specialization, work opportunities, and, of course, the PGWP.

Business:

Obtain your ULI Diploma in Global Trade and Marketing. Then, transfer to Coast Mountain College to obtain experience at CMTN’s campus in Prince Rupert – a growing port city and first North American contact point from Asia.

Trades:

Meet the English requirement for trades training at Universal Learning Institute. Then, transfer to Coast Mountain College for additional specific training in areas such as Chef, Carpenter, Welder, and more!  Be placed in a work experience up north and get ready to begin an exciting career with Canadian Trade Certification!

English:

Take English for Academic Purposes at ULI (EAP 301) to meet English entrance requirements for Coast Mountain College.  Study online and during the pilot project period, this will be a fully transferable entrance acceptance process.

Ready to Take the Next Step:

Meet the English entrance requirements with ULI (online or face-to-face), and then transfer to Coast Mountain College to qualify for the PGWP. Earn an Associate Degree, a trade designation or a professional designation. Transfer to a full degree granting partner of Coast Mountain College to earn a full degree.
