ESL Placement Test
The ESL Placement Test has been designed to be used for placing students into the appropriate class at Universal Learning Institute. Students with no previous knowledge of English at all would not normally be required to take either test.

Please note: the ESL Placement Test is graded to test items that are progressively more difficult.
ESL Placement Test Contents
The ESL Placement Test tests structures and vocabulary. It is comprised of 60 multiple-choice test items (36 structure and 24 vocabulary) that are worth one point each.

Deciding Students’ Levels
Use the ESL Placement Test conversion table to decide which level your students are at. Placement according to the scores on the test is based on the assumption that your students attempt to answer all the questions.
